TALLAHASSEE —Men who took antidepressants for erectile dysfunction could lose it again after their doctors concluded that they had experienced a similar sexual problem.

Researchers said the new drugs, including sildenafil (sold under the brand name Viagra), had a similar effect to the antidepressants in that they were similar to those used to treat depression. But men with erectile dysfunction, who are not candidates for SSRI antidepressants, had similar sexual problems as those taking the drugs for depression.

“This is a very interesting finding,” said Dr. David E. Williams, a professor of psychiatry and clinical psychology at Vanderbilt University and the study’s lead author. “I feel strongly that men who are taking antidepressants for erectile dysfunction should be treated with a drug that is similar to sildenafil, a drug that is known to be effective in treating sexual dysfunction and has the potential to be a very effective treatment.”

“It may be that the benefits of sildenafil are similar to those of antidepressants and, therefore, that sildenafil is the drug that is better for men with erectile dysfunction than is Viagra,” Williams said. “However, the results of this study do not support that conclusion.”

The study involved 17 men who had erectile dysfunction and who had not taken an antidepressant for a year.

The men were randomly assigned to take two drug groups: placebo, and sildenafil (sold under the brand name Viagra), which was not used. The men in the sildenafil group were given a placebo, which they received from a pharmaceutical company.

“It was very interesting because a placebo group had a significant improvement in their erectile function compared to a placebo group that did not take the medication for the same period,” Williams said. “We also wanted to see if the improvements in erectile function that we found in the sildenafil group were similar to those that the placebo group experienced.”

When the study began, the men took Viagra. Two weeks later, another group began taking sildenafil (sold under the brand name Viagra) and was given a placebo.

Williams said the results were statistically significant.

“These results show that sildenafil was effective in improving erectile function in a substantial number of men, and that sildenafil was also effective in men with erectile dysfunction,” Williams said. “The study showed that men who took sildenafil were not more likely to regain their erectile function than those who took the placebo.”

The men who took the pills for erectile dysfunction had more sexual problems than those taking the placebo, but that was only statistically significant. “We don’t have enough data on the sexual side of the erectile dysfunction question here,” Williams said.

The study is the first to track the effects of the drugs on erectile function in a large sample of men with erectile dysfunction.

The results were published Friday in the British Journal of Clinical Psychiatry.

The men who took sildenafil were at a higher risk of having sexual problems than the men who did not take the antidepressant for erectile dysfunction. The researchers concluded that “a causal relationship between sildenafil and sexual dysfunction was present, but the men who took the drug for erectile dysfunction did not have a greater incidence of sexual problems than did those who did not take the drug.”

The results were published Friday in the British Medical Journal.

In the study, the researchers compared the rates of erectile dysfunction in men who took sildenafil, Viagra, and placebo with the rates of erectile dysfunction in men who did not take the drug for erectile dysfunction.

The average rate of erectile dysfunction in the sildenafil group was 14.8 percent, compared with 5.3 percent for the placebo group. The average rate of erectile dysfunction in the sildenafil group was 15.4 percent, compared with 11.9 percent for the placebo group.

“It is important to note that there are a number of possible explanations for the higher rates of erectile dysfunction among men who take antidepressants for erectile dysfunction,” Williams said.

A new trial has found that Viagra is the better choice for the treatment of impotence

By MIRAL GRAHAM

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The first clinical trial of Viagra, the first prescription drug to be approved by the FDA, will be carried out to determine if it is the better choice for the treatment of impotence.

A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group trial is currently carried out.

Dr David Goldschl, of Pfizer's New York City office, said the results of the study show that Viagra is the better choice. "We think this is a positive finding," he said. "The findings from this trial show that there is a clear benefit to the use of Viagra, with the use of sildenafil as the best alternative to the current standard of care for the treatment of erectile dysfunction."

The trial is the first, to be carried out, at a site known as the San Diego International Medical Center, in California.

Dr Goldschl said the results were based on clinical trials of Viagra, which were carried out in 1998 and 2001.

"The results are statistically significant for all four groups," he said.

Viagra, known by the brand name Revatio, was the most popular medicine on the market in 1998. It is the most prescribed drug for impotence.

According to Dr David Goldschl, the results are not good news for patients with cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, or diabetes.

Dr Goldschl said he did not know whether patients who were taking Viagra were better candidates for the treatment of impotence, although it did not appear to be the best treatment for impotence in patients with cardiac problems.

Viagra has been available in the U. S. since 1998. Pfizer Inc. was the first to launch the drug in the United States, although Pfizer was not involved in the study.

Dr Goldschl noted that Viagra was not prescribed to patients with pulmonary hypertension and has not been shown to work for patients with diabetes. Viagra is also not approved to treat erectile dysfunction.

The study, carried out by Dr Goldschl and Dr David Gold, was carried out in the Netherlands, in 1998.

Dr David Gold, a Pfizer spokesman, said Viagra was the only prescription drug approved to treat erectile dysfunction.

He said that while the results were very encouraging, they were not due to the side-effects of Viagra.

Viagra is one of the few drugs for which there is no evidence that it is better than the placebo.

Viagra is a blue pill which is used to treat erectile dysfunction and is effective for about 80% of patients.

Viagra has been approved in the United States since 1998.

It is the only drug approved to treat erectile dysfunction in the United States. The FDA does not approve medications for the treatment of impotence.

Viagra, sold as Revatio, is the brand name of sildenafil. It is sold under the brand name Viagra and is taken by mouth as needed.

Dr Goldschl noted that Viagra was not prescribed to patients with pulmonary hypertension. Patients with hypertension are advised to take a lower dose of the drug.

The trial was carried out in three separate studies.

Dr David Gold, the chief executive of Pfizer, said that his company would not be marketing the drug for use in patients with coronary artery disease or other heart-related problems.

"We would be very cautious," he said.

A study of men with erectile dysfunction has been carried out by Dr David Gold, an analyst, in Chicago, and by Dr David Gold, a Pfizer spokesman.

Dr Gold said he is not familiar with the study, conducted by Pfizer and conducted at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr Gold said that it was not his practice to tell patients the side-effects of Viagra. Dr Gold had not been involved in the study, but he was aware that the trial was carried out.

Dr Gold said Pfizer's own study was done after the FDA approved Viagra to treat impotence.

"The FDA approved Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction in 1998," he said.

The study was conducted at the University of California, San Diego.

“I am one of the people who will not be allowed to come into the country without telling my wife.”

It is in the country where a young man who may have a sexual relationship with his partner has been given Viagra, but he is not allowed to go out with his friends. He has been denied the drugs because he is a man, but a lawyer has asked him to try his case to get his wife’s support, according to a news release from the Virginia Commonwealth. He was denied a hearing in the Virginia Supreme Court by the attorneys general in the state. The lawyer who was appointed by the attorney general to represent men who were denied the drugs, according to the release, is challenging the ruling. He says his wife’s friend, a lawyer who represents men with sexual relationship issues, is not allowed to come to the court, and that it is “for him to decide whether he has an interest in the matter” and that she is not to take part in any further proceedings. The attorney general has argued that if a man is denied the drugs he may be allowed to travel and he would not be allowed to come to court, but he says it is “in the nature of a criminal to take away a man’s freedom of choice.”

A man in the West Virginia community in a lawsuit alleges that he and his wife were granted Viagra by a court in Virginia on August 17, 2012. His wife is a man with sexual relationship issues, but a lawyer has not asked for comment.
